New: your images now ride inside the PDF (round-trip image embedding)

We just shipped something we’re quietly proud of. When you export a document, every image you placed now lives once, embedded in the PDF itself, and when you re-import that PDF to keep editing, we pull the images straight back out of it.

Two things this fixes:

  • Your pictures survive. Even if our temporary upload storage is cleared, re-importing your own exported PDF brings the images back. Nothing to re-upload.
  • No file bloat. We stopped duplicating image data as base64 inside the document, so files stay lean even with lots of pictures.

You don’t have to do anything to get this, export and re-import as usual. If you ever see a missing-image placeholder after a round-trip, tell us in Help with the file and we’ll take a look.
